In the process of brake job on my '77 242. I decided and did get reman, loaded front calipers from FCP Groton. They look good. Pads in them look dark gray. I've used PBR pads, (used to be-maybe still, are Austrialian), for years and like them. But looking at the Groton calipers I decided, what the heck, I'd try them just as furnished.
On the edge of the pads, they are stamped, "PMD43-784." I've been doing a search for those numbers and the search for simply, "PMD," shows up as, "Preminum Metallic," disk. Hmmm.
Does anyone know what these are for sure???? What are they; who makes them. If metallic, I have mixed feelings for using them. I did long ago and found metallics required different pedal pressure and, of course, wear the rotors faster. But they are more water resistant, etc.
So I wonder what I've gotten into?????
Just ordered matching rear calipers too as after seeing the fronts, I think the car deserves a new set all around. Have new hoses too.
Thanks,
Dennis
