1990 740 non-turbo
My 740 has had an abusive drive belt history. I'm trying to get it back to what it is supposed to be, but this question is so basic, I can't find it covered in the FAQ or searching within these posts. Two questions:
1) With the alternator and the AC having two pulleys each, there are several options for the drive belt arrangement. This is what I currently have:
- water pump gets the inside (rear) main shaft pulley
- alternator gets middle main shaft pulley
- AC gets outside (front) main shaft pulley
Is this the correct arrangement?
2) Currently, my water pump has its own belt, the AC has its own belt, but the belt for the alternator ALSO loops around the AC, on the AC's other pulley. I would think the alternator and the AC would each have their own belt, or one belt would be used for both. The AC having an extra belt seems odd.
Is this the correct arrangement?
Thank you for your puzzle solution!
