Center Console electrical

Electrical-
because I'm more mechanical,

I have two issues to address simultaneously,

None of the center console lights in my 83' 245 are working, AND the radio lights up, but there is no sound- All fuses are OK.

I'd like to replace the radio at this time, and probably mount the new one in the upper position. How do I remove the lower OEM radio?

I'll take the center console apart, and check for damaged and/or disconnect wires to the console, and replace the bulbs- what else is there to check?
