replacement windshield 120-130

I'm about ready to replace my pitted, wiper scraped windshield and am wondering what others' experience has been with non OEM windshields as replacements. I've read here that Volvo still will provide original, though I don't know what they cost relative to a generic replacement. What would the downside be to a generic replacement? Are they identical in size, curve, fit, clarity, material quality, etc?
What do you think?
