A few months ago, my radiator spilled out its fluid while I was driving and the engine overheated. I was on the highway when I first noticed the temp gauge approaching the red zone. I kept on driving to see if maybe a stuck-closed thermostat would open itself. (I didn't know what the real problem was at the time). But the temp kept rising to the point that the engine started shuttering and losing power, which I assume was caused by too much heat for proper combustion. I shut it off at that point.
Since then I've had the radiator replaced. The only new issue I have with the car is it's reluctance to run smoothly during rainy or moist conditions which I'm still trying to trace the fault for; otherwise it runs like before and I don't hear any new tapping or knocking sounds.
Do you think I've done any damage to the B230? It has 315,000 miles and has been well-cared for...well, up to that point anyway.
Thanks, and shame on me for not pulling over sooner. :(
