Driving home on a 10 mile trip I engaged CC and, after a few seconds, realized that instead of holding at 50 mph, the car was gradually slowing. An hour earlier I had used the CC (same 10 miles) and it worked perfectly.
Klaus C, you posted the following in the AWD forum about a s/70 CC:
"If you look carefully under the front of the battery tray, you should be just able to see the vacuum line where it attaches to the pump via an elbow. Pull the line off and/or elbow, and with the engine off, see if you can generate any vacuum by sucking on the line. If there is no vacuum, you need a new brake switch. If there is vacuum, there might be a problem with the on/off switch on the steering column stalk. Pulling a lot of vacuum will actually move the throttle cable.
The last part, where you say pulling a vacuum can move the throttle cable - sounds like something I could do on my 965. Suck hard and watch?
Also, I suspect that my 965 has the same vacuum switch on the brake pedal, is that a spot where age-related deterioration sets in?
Like the water when well runs dry, I miss the CC more now that it's gone.
Any ideas will welcomed and considered.
Many thanks,
Bob
