My 1971 Volvo 144s has a gas gauge that is not working. I have heard that you can ground the wire that connects to the gas cap INSIDE the trunk and the gas gauge should read FULL. Where can I ground this wire in the trunk in order to test this.

And when I remove the cap to the gas tank INSIDE the trunk, what should there be on the back side of it that reads the fuel level? Pictures or links would be helpful.
