i have learned a great deal here over the past 15 years and wish ALL of you the best of times in your travels
last thursday morning my '85 volvo 244 was rear-ended enough to be considered a total, your standard deal: bent body above the rear wheels, but the trunk still unlocked and tail lights still worked (surprise!)
after 11 years and 255,000 miles by me, "Bluey" (ser no. 1099001) had given us 353,718 miles
state farm gave me a fair settlement of $1984.25, even though her paint was terrible the rest was pretty good, if not great
cost of ownership over those 11 years - $550 per year, including oil changes and tires; i guess i did alright in that regard - but she never did a damn thing for me of her own volition, kinda selfish of her
it is a shame nobody will know she had a new fuel tank sender, variable wiper relay, adjustable cam gear and poly bushings up front within the past month, but i hope someone will find her and give her parts a very good home - she went to an auction in central arkansas sometime after monday afternoon, if you had/have the proclivity
it is a shame no bank will finance a '98 V70XC for me, or i would have jumped at the chance
i have decided, instead, on an '05 Ford Freestyle, with many volvo technologies involved i have not strayed too far - as well, my first volvo, like this new-to-me FS, was a white wagon
if anyone wants a complete set of poly rear bushings for $50 plus shipping let me know
again i wish all of you the best,
rich in arkansas
