Greeting all, I live in one of the unfortunate counties in ohio that is still subjected to e-check emissions testing. They stop requiring the bi-annual check after your car is 25 years old, so this would've been my last test but she failed for high NOx emissions.
The e-check worker told me my combustion temp was too high causing the high NOx reading. OH allows ~1350 ppm NOx i tested ~1650 ppm. The car runs great; i just replaced the original alternator (made it 210k miles!) other than that it's never let me down the 2 years i've owned it. I had no idea it would fail.
Has anyone ever failed an emissions test for NOx? If so, what remedies the high reading? I'm praying for a cheap and quick remedy like a gas additive, but I'm not holding my breath. Any and all tips/ knowledge are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading
John
