Hello all,
Thought I'd share my latest nightmare with my wife's 940 turbo wagon.
It started with a bad starter, in the start of a deep freeze here in NJ. Replaced the starter, then it developed a problem starting when cold, would crank fine, just wouldn't fire unless you messed with the throttle. So I took off the intake, replaced all the vac lines, and the ECT temp sensor for the computer, worked for 2 days then went right back to the no start condition, battery died, replaced it, cranking no longer an issue, so it was running and idling like crap, I whacked the FPR with a screwdriver handle and it smoothed right out, I thought, gee I'll get a new FPR, after replacement, no start, plenty of spark, over dumping of fuel, I'm now at a loss. Plugs were wet fouled after each attempt to start the engine. The car would start and run for 3 secs, then die and refuse to restart. So I cleared the computer codes, disconnected the battery, then started the car and checked for codes, MAF signal missing or faulty. I put the original Bosch AMM back in, bingo, no more issues. 2 things confused me with this saga, 1st disconnecting the AMM didn't allow the car to run, 2nd why did the good FPR cause this problem to rear its ugly head. I will no longer buy aftermarket AMMs or FPRs, both these were replaced within the last 2 years with garbage. So its running like a raped ape again, Yeah!!! Lesson learned, replace with Bosch parts.
