Hot Hood... 200 1993

First, a hearty thanks to everyone for past input...this board is invaluable to those of us who are mechanically challenged!

I recently changed my radiator, hoses, and thermostat to aleviate an overheating problem. Worked beautifully! I also removed the temperature compensation board (though it was working) and jumped the 1 & 3 pins for a more accurate reading.

So my question...now that I have zero overheating and the needle is pinned at the nine o'clock position I noticed the other day, while driving in the rain and stop and go traffic, I had a lot of steam comming off of my hood. I will note that it did not steam while driving, just when stopped in the traffic. I stopped to ensure that it was not comming from under the hood but what I found was that it was simply steaming off of the beads of water that were on the hood due to the hood being very hot. Perhaps this was a combination of atmospheric conditions (warm and raining) and a freshly waxed car that was beading water...or maybe my hood was just really hot!

The hood is definitely hot after my 20 minute commute...but how hot should it be? I am assuming it is nothing but I have never seem this happen before and would love to hear if anyone has some insight as to whether or not this is normal???
