Temperature Compensation Board, &c. 200 1987

Hello,

I have a quick question about bypassing the temperature compensation board on the 86+ 200's. My gauge has been quite screwy lately and I thought maybe I better try this fix. After doing it, the needle now climbs to just shy of the red zone immediately (within seconds), even after the car has been parked all night. My question is, should I have removed the board entirely after jumping the terminals 1 and three? I gathered from the photos that it was to be put back in place after jumping the two terminals...but maybe not? If I have in fact done this correctly, my next suspicion would probably be the sender (I have swapped out a couple of actual temperature gauges already to no avail). I just thought I'd ask before I tear into the motor...

Thanks to anyone in advance!!
