So I have a 1965 122S 4 door, and I live right south of Seattle.
I am finding myself in absolute dire financial straights after a layoff,
and have to sell my car.
I hate to do it. The engine is out of a 68, it has power, is economical,
and highly reliable. I just had the ENTIRE brake system replaced. Every
component of the brake system is new. Every nut, bolt, hose, and part.
The U joints are new. Not an easy task. I had a shop do both the driveline
work at the brakes.
I have an MSD ignition kit, an electronic distributor from a 75 240, and
leather front seats from a 240 installed for both safety and comfort.
You could drive this car to the moon. The paint is in good condition considering its age. Never been wrecked, there is a golf ball sized dent
that has to be pointed out near the rear liscense plate.
The radio works. The heater works. The speedo works. Again, I hate to sell
it. I have to tho, or Im going to find myself homeless.
The only impediment to it being completely mechanically correct is
the generator isnt putting out amps. I re-brushed it, but that dosent really
seem to work.
A good friend of mine who is sympathetic to my situation has a shelf full
of various alternators. The only problem is they all have on board regulators,
and we dont quite know how to wire them in. Id really like to put an
alternator on it for selling purposes.
Id also really like to let all of you guys in the Pac. Northwest have first
crack at it. Id be willing to let it go for 1500, which is a huge loss
considering all the work that has gone into it.
If anyone could be of assistance in us wiring in a new alternator, Id love
your help.
If anyone would wish to come take a look at it, Id love that even more.
Thanks again for your years of good advice.
