idle surge while braking...occasional idle surging 900 1995

Hi all
I have experiencing a weird problem off and on for the past couple of weeks. Car is a 95 944 with 150k on the clock.

While coming to a stop, the car surges from, I’d say, 800 rpm to 1200rpm, and then goes back down to 750rpm which for the most part stays steady (see below). The car feels like it wants to go forward when I am coming to stop, and I have to fight it more with the brakes.

Also, I have been experiencing an unrelated problem where the idle erratically surges from 500rpm to 1000 rpm. This happens periodically and don’t know where to start tracing it. Can't find any leaks. Every time this happens it is in the morning.

The car had new vacuum hoses, new intake manifold gasket, brake booster valve, injector seals, throttle body gasket, and a new valve cover gasket installed in the past 6 months.
I really have no idea what could be the cause(s) of these two events. …Any ideas?
