I cannot believe the stuff that happens to me! I just changed the water pump after it started leaking, use the kit or just replace the pump? well decided after 190,000 miles, a new pump was in order. I replaced the pump and no problems, but i did remove the upper cover on the timing belt to get access to a mounting bolt and just have a looksy at the belt. I removed the two bolts and screw. After the replacement I fired up the engine, no problem, added coolant as necessary. Installed the top timing belt cover and noticed the plastic was deteroated around where the bolt is installed. I didn't think any thing of it and went to start the car and bam! nothing. WTF! I removed the timing cover and the belt broke. After removing the rest of the covers, I discovered that the metal sleeve that the bolt went through to mount to the engine fell into the lower gear and jammed it hence a broking timing belt. I did not hear the thing fall at all. Nor did i see it. DANG!
Anyhow, so now i need to put a new belt on, any tips to get the thing timed up again? I am hoping no damage was done. I just bought some seals to replace the camshaft seals etc while i am there. any heads up would be great. thanks!
