Electrical Gremlins? 200

I was making my way home from Dayton Ohio on Friday evening (7-25-08). I was going along about 70 mph and everything was fine...until...

I looked down and saw my temperature gauge start to drop. My fuel gauge was reading about 1/2 a tank (I had just filled up about 50 miles ago). I hit the top of the dash just in case it would fix itself (like to temp. compensation board).

About a minute later, the "SRS" light came on and stayed on. The radio went out, I started losing electric power to all of the different accessories.

About 5 minutes later, I stared losing power to the engine. My friend, who was following me, pulled behind me and put his hazard lights on. There was nowhere to stop, so I was going to try and make it as far as I could. I was shifting down to third gear and the car reagined its power and everything seemed normal again. We kept on driving down the road for about another thirty minutes.

Then, the same thing started happening again. This time, it did not regain anything. I got off the raod and let it coast to a stop. Had a tow truck to me to an AutoZone. It was about 12 miles away.

I removed the battery and took it inside to have it charged.

I put it back in the car. The guy tested to Alternator, Voltage Regulator and Diodes. Said everything seemed normal. It was putting out about 75 amps (seemed a little high to me). The guy tested the battery and said everything was fine with that too.

Seemed to start right up and away we went. We got about 50 more miles down the road and this time, the alternator light, brake failure light and emergency brake light came on (just flickering a bit). It seemed that as long as I kept the RPM's of the motor up, the lights would not flicker. (may be coincidence, may not be).

After about fifty miles, the three lights started flickering a bit more and the "SRS" light came back on. Then the illumination lights in on the dash went out and I decided to find a place to park it for the night and not take any more chances.

Just a note, I don't know if the "SRS" works or not. There is not sensor in the front of the car, nor under the seat(s). The car is a salvage title and I have been using it as my only driver for about 4-5 years now. I do regular maintenance. Just changed out the plugs, distributor cap & rotor before taking this trip.

My friend also told as we were pulling out of the AutoZone, he noiced my tail lights go off and come right back on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Todd :-)
