740 se vs 740 turbo? 700 1991

So i have a 1991 744ti and the vin comes up at the dmv as a 740 SE and comes up on the carfax as a 740 SE although it's badged as a "740 turbo."

I know the 940 se was really a 960 turbo which was never officially released in the u.s... but i can't find anything that says what the diference between a 740 turbo and 740 se is...

any ideas?
