I have a 1987 240 DL. Me and my local Brick Guys take very good care of her. She gets what ever she wants even beore she needs it. We seem to have hit a major bump though..so here we go.
In december I was driving and I heard a lound bang( like a gun shot" then the car just died. I coasted to the side of the road and tried to start. It acted like it wanted to , but would not catch. I had it towed. We replaced the Air mass meter. I picked up a few days later. It ran okay for a couple of hours then it started puttering and stalling. It seems be fine at high speeds, however in town as if I were slowing to a stoplight or such it would die. The dash board lights would come on and I would have to start back up. If it didn't die at the light and I was able to pull away from the light it would hesitate and loose compresion like it would die..I would let off gas and then give it gas till it caught and would go.
Here is another part of the story. While in line at the bank it died. It would not start. All the lights came on. We had to push out of the line and let it sit. Then tried and it started right up no problem. I need some please. Any ideas. While I don't mind driving my '850 or if my wife lets me dive her V70 I miss my vintage box. Please help me . My mechanics are stumped. I drive for a day then drop back of the same or next day. We just yesterday replaced the fuel relay under the passangers foot. What can it be. First time on Brickboard looking for some good advice.
When or do I need to change the fuel injectors on this car. Could that be part of the problem?
thanks to all!!
