Hello, Volvo enthusiasts!
The time has come to retire my old merry 1987 Volvo 240DL wagon. It has not passed the state inspection – the rust has killed my car. The shop rejected it with the resolution that it has “body/chassis structural rust” which in human language means that rust has eaten rockers, floor pans and structure support. On my subjective opinion, the car would have served yet another 5-7 years with minimal rust treatment and painting, but alas, the shop won’t let my car hit the road again until I fix it. Unfortunately, repairing these rusty areas will cost me big money. :(
The car has served me faithfully for ten years and passed 272K miles, and it is still running great because I maintained it for myself. I never missed oil changes and always fed it with Premium gas.
Well, before I bring it to a junk yard (what I have to do within next 8 days), I would like to ask people if anybody is interested in buying my car for parts or for driving in those states where regulations are not as strict as they are in New Hampshire.
There are several new parts that I put into my car:
1). Fuel tank and in-tank pump – 1 year old;
2). Rear and front calipers and Brembo rotors – 1 or 2 years old;
4). Heater blower motor – 1 year old;
4). Catalytic converter – 2 years old;
5). Mufflers and pipes – 1 year old;
6). Tires (inexpensive budget ones) – 4 months old.
7). Central bearing support – 2 years old;
8). Battery – 3 years old;
9). Front struts were replaced 2 years ago (taken from a donor car).
10). Rear bushings - 1 year old.
If there is any interest – drop me email via this forum. I live in Southern New Hampshire.
Sincerely,
Dmitriy.
