Fuel Line Broke at Tank Fitting - 1991 740 700

I have a 1991 Volvo 740 with the Regina fuel system. While removing the sending unit to replace the fuel pump, the fuel line from the sending unit snapped at the “banjo” fitting. I visited two Volvo dealerships and the fuel line is no longer available. The only option they could offer would be to replace the entire pump and sending unit with the newer version and use the newer version of the fuel line. This solution would run about $500 in parts.

Do I have any alternatives? After looking at the fitting, I am considering inserting a brass nipple into the original threaded whole and attaching the existing fuel line directly with a hose clamp. Does anyone have any better ideas? Better yet, does anyone know where I could get a replacement for the older style hose? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
