Hey guys,
My V90 needs an evaporator core (hissing from dash vents when A/C charged) and I've been looking around at brand options. I figured if I have the dash out I should probably just replace the heater core while I'm there as I'm not interested in taking the dash out twice (let alone once, haha). I know OE Volvo is probably the best way to go, but the cost is pretty high, even special order from FCP Groton (Evap: $425, heater core: $309). So I'm wondering if any of the aftermarket brands are reputable or if I'd just be waisting my time and money... FCP offers an "Air Products" evap for $179 and a "Four Seasons" (which they claim is OE) heater core for $110. Eeuroparts.com sells an "APG" evap for $179 and an "Aftermarket" heater core for $140. I'm not quite sure what to do. I certainly don't want a repeat failure, but do I really need to spend all that money for the OE parts? Does anyone know who makes the OE evap and heater cores? I put a Four Seasons heater core in my 745T and I started smelling coolant again a few months later so I claimed warranty on it and replaced it with a Nissens unit (I sold the car shortly after). I was told Four Seasons is a reputable brand, maybe I had a defective one? Should I try to get a Nissens unit for the V90? Any help here would be great guys, I want to make sure this job is done right, but hopefully at a reasonable price...
