M46 with OD 700

Hi all:

I am starting to have some engauging problems with the Laycock de Normanville type "P" OD unit installed in the car. It probably needs a rebuid, as it is getting steadily worse. I'd like to postpone the rebuild for a awhile.

The specs call for Type F ATF to be used in the tranny and OD. Has anyone used a heavier gear or motor oil, in these units, to postpone a rebuild?

OD operatation is excellent until the oil gets hot. Then it gets touchy. I'm wondering if a heavier oil would be a temporary fix.

Thanks
