Hello, I have an 85 240 with LH 2.2 injection. My car is having an idle problem and I am hoping you all could help me out. Okay, here goes nothing. Today I noticed that the air bypass screw on the throttle body isn't even close to being screwed in as far as the Bentley shows. Before noticing this I bought a cleaned idle air control valve about 2 months ago to cure the idle problem. I installed the IAC valve and the idle shot up to 2000 and stayed. Is this high idle due to the throttle body screw being out so far? Could that be allowing that much air through that the idle stays that high and doesn't come down? I put the old IAC valve back on and have been living with a rough idle ever since. So today I figured I would "diagnose" some more and see what is going on. I disconnected the IAC valve and the car still runs the same with no change in idle condition. Again I am thinking bypass screw on throttle body but I am also thinking that is too easy. So I guess my next step is to install the other IAC valve and turn the bypass screw in a bit more then set base idle and mixture per the Bentley. Does this diagnosis sound okay? Could anyone give any advise and help get my 240 running like it should?
Thanks in advance,
Brandon
