Engine transplant (240 to 740)

Has anyone, or does anybody know why we should/should not try to install a B230F (1986 240) engine into a 1991 740 Turbo? We are concerned with any major mechanical differences or wiring loom issues. We are not particularly bothered about retrofitting the turbocharger. Your comments and thoughts are most welcome. Many thanks.
