Hello All,
I got the second B20 home on Saturday (if you recall, I bought a b20 that was bored to 92mm and had a damaged cylinder - ergo, block #2). It came equiped with a 6-bolt crank and had one burnt piston. Once apart, the crank measured a little out of round and tapered (enough to need a re-grind) but the block was in good shape with the maximum wear being 6-thou over on the cylinder with the burnt piston.
Now for the problem. Block #1 has a good 8-bolt crank and rods (they were recently reground and are round and not tapered), so my preference is to use to 8-bolt set-up (the rods look beefier as well). So I go to look for 10-thou over pistons...and I can't find them, all I can find are .030". Do I have to go to 30-thou over? I really don't want to do this as the block is in great shape and doesn't need to have that much taken out of it. Where can I get 10 / 15-thou over pistons for the later 24mm wrist pins? Or should I have the 6-bolt crank re-ground and go with the 22mm wrist pin set-up?
Thoughts?
Craig
