AW 71 jerky when put from N->D 700

Hi!

I have an excellent tranny which is very smooth. However, every time I put it into D (from N or P, very slow, or normal) it feels like I am rear-ended. N-> R feels pretty normal.

What can it be?

    i had the same problem on my 89 740 GL. is your idle too high? on mine all i had to do was decrese the idle and it got much better. after the idle adjustment i adjusted the kick down cable and i was good to go.
