Rear spring replacement followup 200

Follow on to my question on replacing the rear springs.

maybe a dumb question, but do you have to remove the bolt from the both shocks at the same time before lowering the axle, or is there enough play to do it one at a time when changing the springs?.

Can I jack up the car by putting the floor jack under the differential case?

The body will need to be kept elevated while you lower the axle to allow the springs to slip out.

So yes, you can jack up the car using the diff as the jacking point. Then put stands under the body to keep it up. Then lower the jack (and axle) to get the springs out.

Maybe not a dumb question -

When I replaced my springs, I jacked up the rear whell and did one wheel at a time. I had no problems doing it like this.

Did you jack up the wheel, unbolt the lower shock bolt, then jack higher and remove the spring?

Actually what I did was jack the car up with a hydralic jack under the rear axel. I then used jack stand to support the wieght of the body. ( i used the jacking points as the location) I then lowered the axel and I was able to work on one side at a time. You could do the same one side at a time. YOu need to support the wieght of the car and to be able to lower the axel with a jack.
