Adding AC. Am I insane???? 200 1976

I just spent the last few hours tearing the interior out of my donor car for the last few AC parts (coil, expansion etc.) and I'm thinking, is this worth it??? Has anyone out there transplanted an AC with decent results? My wife is big on AC being available -- I'm indifferent of course in August I'll have a different opinion...I'm transplanting a '79 system into a '76 (no AC) by the way. I'm curious to hear what ya'll have to say.

This one too perhaps regarding the later compressor:

You'd be better off putting the system in from a later 240.

In '86 (at least, I think it was '86) they started using a much stronger compressor.

If you could find the stuff from a '93, that would be the best.

You are looking at a major project. It's doable, but it's a bit pain in the ass.

    Not insane,

I'm putting AC in my 79. The underhood components have been stripped (incl. cut hoses) and the inside components we butchered in what I assume to be a repair attempt and most likely why the AC was abandoned. I'm NOT sticking with stock components though. I yanked the AC from a Toyota Tercell wagon and I'm installing it all in the brick (with the exception of using a new compressor and a 240 condensor from a donar car).
