Replacing Plastic Vacuum Lines 200

HI all,
just a quickie, can i replace the cracked/damaged plastic vacuum hoses (coloured ones from intake mani, distributor etc, with rubber end bits) with normal rubber or silicone vacuum hose? Many of the old ones are dying, and im about to replace all the hoses- should i fork out $$$ for orignal volvo ones with the plastic or just use normal vac hose?
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

The hoses are rigid and have to withstand the temperature - there's a thread on this in the 700 forum.
