looking into purchasing an 850/850 turbo S90-V90

Hi all-
as some of you may know I am the proud owner of an 87 244 (and was the proud owner of an 87 245). However, as life goes on, I think it's time for me to move on. I'm thinking of buying an 854 or an 854 turbo. What kinds of things should I look for when purchasing? what are some common problems for this model? What are some things, after purchasing, that I can do to prolong its life?

I would take a look at either a 940 or 960/s90. From what I know (mostly from this board), 850's seem to have some pricey problems around the 100-150k mile range. The 900 series of cars including the s/v cars are in my opinion, the best of the volvo's. Unless you have an overwhelming need for fwd, stick with a rwd car. Many 960's can be had around 6-7000 with less than 100k on the clock. Not that hard to get them to 200k and you have a very nice ride to boot. Something to think about.

Since you've found your way into the S/V90 forum, none of us 14 owners may be able to comment on your request that related to a FWD 850. May a suggest that you repost in that forum?
