89 740 GLE - Fuel mixture adjustment - how? 700 1989

I have an '89 740 GLE with the B234 16V engine. The car runs fine, but just barely fails the California smog test (hydrocarbons too high at road speed). Output from oxygen sensor averages a little high - about .55 to .6V instead of .45 to .5V. Unlike earlier (?) years, the MAF on this car is a sealed unit.

How do I adjust the mixture to get a slightly leaner balance?

If you can "average" the output of the lambda sond and discern .45 from .6 you've got some test equipment uncharacteristic in shade tree work. No adjustments, just fixes, starting with the lambda sond for a good pt of reference. After that, rich at speed is dirty filters, fpr failing, ignition trbl, leaking injectors... what do the plugs tell you?
