Please help! Air Mass Meter Failure 900 1994

My 1994 940 Turbo was running great. I went to wash the engine at the carwash as I have done many times before. Afterward, the car started just fine and ran fine as I brought it home (approx. 6 mile drive). I parked it and the next day I went to start it. It wouldn't start. I thought perhaps when I washed it, I might have gotten water in the distributor. Checked out dry. I unplugged the Air Mass Meter to see if it would start, and it started right up. So, I thought perhaps moisture was faulting the sensor. I let it dry out for nearly a week now, but same problem. Tried disconnecting the battery to reset the signal with no success. Is there a way to reset the sensor signal to the meter, or does unplugging the meter prove a damaged meter if the car starts when it is unplugged. I should note that the platinum filament in the AMM is still in tact(not broken). Could it still be bad??? If so, can anyone recommend a place to get a used but tested AMM on the web.

    but in a word, yes, it sounds like your AMM is bad if it starts w/o it plugged in but won't with it attached. Do you have a turbo? If not, you should have a thermostat in the airbox that opens/closes a flapper valve. This t-stat goes bad and the airbox charge air will overheat and bake the AMM.

    Never changed your airbox t-stat before? Probably the root cause of your AMM failure.
