radio suppression relay; mismatch question 900 1995

The car is a 1995 940 turbo wagon, and I am replacing the radio suppression relay. I ordered the part from alloemvolvoparts and received it from partsbin. When I went to replace it old one, I found that the amps don't match. The new one is 12V 30 amps KAE, and the one I removed is Volvo brand 12V 40 amps. Are these exchangeable, or is it a trip to the Volvo dealer? I don't have time to reorder it, and there is a dealer up the road. If you know, I could use the information right away, as I need to get this car up and running today. Thanks.

If I may ask, why did you replace the relay.

Curiously enough, I replaced the same relay on my 95 940 NA last week, and was going to post about the reduced amperage on the new relay. No need to now. It would seem however that I am still having hot start problems, much to my disappointment, even though I have replaced the relay.

Only item left is the FPR behind the ash tray.

The rpm sensor can also fail and cause hot-start problems.

The 30 amp version will be fine: there is no way that current level will be exceeded.

Thanks for the quick reply, Steve. This will save me a trip to the dealer and some $$, as the dealer priced is on the high side. While I was waiting to see if there would be a reply, I went to work on replacing the speed/crank/rpm sensor. After connecting up the bell housing end, I went to the electrical connector on the firewall and found that to be corroded. Much oxidized copper on the female connector that comes from the harness, which I cleaned up. That may have been the cause of the stalling. If this tidbit looks worthwhile, I can repost this information in the main part of the forum, rather buried in this thread.
