Bulb failure light intermittent flashing??? 900

My kid smacked the right front signal light lens on the 94 944 enough to smash it but not the turn signal bulb inside. Easy enough to find a replacement in the $35 range so that's done. I cleaned the turn signal bulb up with sandpaper and put it back. I checked the bulb harness for corrosion...everyting looked OK When I say looked OK, I mean the filaments are intact.

BUT...with the headlights on, stepping on the brakes and putting the right turn signal on, I intermittently get the Bulb Failure warning light flashing with the turn signal.
I checked the rear bulbs and they look OK. Any ideas??? Thanks!

The only lights monitored by the bulb out indicator in the front are the low beams. Definitely look at the rear turn signals. Sometimes only a new pair of lamps will work. If you are checking the grounds, wagons have two, one near each tail light. Sedans share one ground under the plastic trunk trim about 3/4 toward the left hand side.

I had the same problem last week on a 240 and found a loose ground connection on the tail light assembly. The system found sufficient ground back through the tail light, brake light and back up light circuits unless one or two of them were on and then it would flash the bulb failure indicator with the turn signal! Check all your black wire connectors for contact and tightness.

Bulb failure light intermittent flashing??? 900

Greetings,

Had a very similar problem with my 940 last year. Bulb failure light would flash on occasion but only when using the left turn signal. It would flash in sync with the turn indicator. Checked all lamps, none burned out. Did not happen all the time! Got so frustrating I replaced all the lamps, found no corrosion in sockets or loose wires. Problem went away for a while then returned.

Finally last September the Bulk Check Relay failed and had no brake lights. Replaced the relay and no flashing dash light since. (BTW replaced the fuel pump relay and the RPM sensor at the same time as a precaution)
