Brake Light Problem 900 1995

All 3 brake lights on our 95 940T Wagon have stopped working. Reading prior posts it sounds like it is probably the bulb out sensor relay. Is there anything else that it could be? Another strange clue is that when you step on the brakes (with the key in the accessory position or the car on only) you hear a clicking sound that sounds like it is coming from the area of the gear shifter. Does this indicate something other than the bulb out sensor relay?

The clicking is almost certainly your electric shiftlock mechanism doing its thing - it tends to be loud. Unrelated to your problem.

My bulb failure relay went south and had identical symptoms - if your cruise is out too, then it's almost 100% this problem. If you can find someone with a 740 or 940 to switch it out with (they're all the same part) before putting down the $125 for the new part, that would be ideal.

Try your cruise control: if that fails too, then the failure is most certainly the bulb out relay.

Yes, I tried the cruise control and it does not work. Just got the new relay and will try to put it in this weekend. Thanks.
