Kick Down Cable and Missing 'Crimp Stop' 700

I noticed that the kick down cable in '89 760T is missing
the crimp stop at the throttle wheel end of cable. Not sure why.

Does anyone have this situation also? What's the purpose of the stop?
Is it safety -- if the cable should come undone/break at the
throttle -- the stop will keep the cable from retracting at the tranmission
end? Is the stop acutally needed?

And is there a way to purchase just the stop (or subsitute it)instead of the whole cable?

Thanks!

Kick Down Cable and Missing 'Crimp Stop' 700

Other than to use as a marker for adjusting the cable, I don't know if there is another purpose for the crimp stop. There could be one, however.

To replace it, you could try a split lead sinker from fishing supplies. These could be crimped on the cable with a little effort. Just my $.02 worth.
