I have an 83, 242. I just replaced all lower control arm bushings and swar bar bushings. However I still have a "clunking" after backing up and moving forward.

What went wrong, or is there something else that needs TLC?

Thanks

Certain its from the front??? 200 1983

I had clunking when I went from reverse to forward (and vice versa) -- it was a universal joint of the driveshaft. Any possibility this is your problem?

Its not during shifting. Just when I start driving. thanks for your input though.

Actually, one time I replaced everything on the front end of a 1980 242 except the struts. It had that clunk also and I found it was one of the strut cartriges. After I put new struts in it was gone.

In the front, loose crossmember, if you are turning, strut bearings, forgot to tighten the bushing cups on the rear control arm bush.
In the rear, torque rod bushings make the diff swing and clunk on take off. There are a lot of clunk things.
