How to connect 960 cabin light in 940. 900

I bought a 960 interior light ( with 2 front reading lights ).
I want to install it in my 940. My 940 just has the single cabin light,
no reading lights. How do I install the wiring, there are no markings at
all on the new light assembly.
Any help will be much appreciated.

The North American 940 has the same three-lamp assembly as the 960, so the wiring must be similar. From my OEM Volvo wiring diagram (a must-have if you own these cars), the white-black wire goes to terminal 2, brown-black to terminal 3, gree-red to terminal 4, and black ground wire to terminal 1.

No, actually the lamps are different. The cars with ECC got a more stylish dome light than the cars without. The 940s I've seen have the "old" style dome light.

Yes, I think my new cabin light is for cars with the ECC because there's a
little hole in it which looks like a housing for a sensor/probe.
Its probably the more stylish one too but it snaps into place all the same .
