Pulled cylinder head today 200

I pulled my cylinder head today as I have had a lot of white smoke and liquid pouring out of the exhaust, oil in coolant and lots of back pressure in coolant tank, Also chocolate milk like oil when car is run for awhile and a bad smell.

I was expecting to see coolant in one of the cylinders or a white piston top but didn't. One of the plugs is suspiciously clean and the others are black as I would expect but I didn't see much evidence of a blown headgasket like I've seen on other cars. I'm getting the head pressure tested on Monday and I'll know more. Does this sound like it could still be the headgasket or something worse - cracked block ? Is the B23 prone to cracked blocks ? Other things to look for ?

With water both in the oil and in the exhaust, it sounds a lot more like head gasket than cracked block.

Has the water in the engine ever frozen?

Blown head gaskets are almost an inevitability on cars with iron blocks and aluminum heads. With two big chunks of metal expanding and contracting at different rates, it's more a matter of WHEN than IF. With bricks, the when is any time after its 12th or 14th birthday.

Pulled cylinder head today (coolant leak) 200

I'd advise taking the old head gasket with you. The techs at the shops are pretty knowledgeable about them and I've been impressed with their ability to spot a tiny trace left from a coolant leak. Some of the guys read the head gaskets like a doctor reading an X-ray.

    God bless,

I think you have to wait and see. The head may be fine because a blown head gasket can give all of your sypmtoms. The suspiciously clean plug is the scene of the head gasket failure. The coolant steam cleans the cylinder while you drive. At least for a while.
