Instruction for replacing the factory radio with a cd player 200 1990

Hello,
I want to replace my radio with a cd player. The guys at Best Buy said I have to bypass the factory amp. They couldn't help me with instructions, though. Is there a site you can guide me to with instruction? I appreciate all your help.

Go to crutchfield. I replaced mine on 2 volvos. They sell you everything that you need. You only need to bypass the amp if you have rear speakers. It was a pita on one of my cars.

Okay, it was an easy affair. I have rear speakers, but they aren't connected to anything..... Which leads me to the next question. There are wires behind the back door panel, they have connector clips that fit on the rear speakers. The right side wires are gray and gray & yellow. The wire color pattern doesn't show up at the radio. Maybe the wires got to the amp, and are a different color between the amp and the radio. I would like to utilize the rear speakers..... Where is the amp, and maybe I can figure how to bypass it?

I bout\ght the radio, wiring connector and face plate through Best Buy..... Does Crutchfield have a site of public instruction, or do the instructions only come with products they sell?

Thanks, Ray.

In front of the shifter on the car is a little box/change holder. It is directly beneath the radio where you can stash a few things. Maybe 2"x 6" and a few inches deep. On my car, the amp was mounted on the rear of this. Sometimes the amp is behind the glovebox. Not easy to get at. Crutchfield sells the stereo and includes instructions and wiring that matches the wiring in the car. They have a website and an 800 hot line. I don't know if the website has a link for directions, but it's worth a try. I think it's crutchfield.com. Good luck.
