122 Duel Exhaust 120-130

In the not too distant past I read a post about the availability of a duel 2" exhaust for the 122. As I am unable to retrieve that post, can anyone tell from where those systems are from?
Thanks.

I think some of the 1800s had it split all the way back but it is really
no help performance-wise. Pipes are too long.

Not sure of what configuration you are looking for in terms of a dual exhaust.
But for informantion purposes, we will soon have it stock stainless steel, 2 1/2 inch, mandrel bent pipe and full systems. These are obviously for perfomance applications and are designed to be used with our headers, although the components can be used with other types of headers with modifications. We are producing them, also for the 1800 and shortly the 140, because performance systems that would flow sufficiently to support our street performance B20 engines were not otherwise available. Some think that pipes that large will result in reductions in low end torque, but our dyno testing does not support this way of thinking.

Agree with John.. Would only make things run badly.

But many has made exhausts with twin-pipes in rear - either on each side or like on the 1800's - I presume only just looks!

Plenty of space underneath a 120/122 from mufler and back, so it's fairly easy.

You can get some good sound with a 2" Simmons exhaust system, but to go 2 times 2" would ruin engine-run. -And how would the exhaust-manifold look?

Only thing that could be changed there, is by exchanging manifold with a "banana"-manifold (That's what we call them here in Denmark, don't know if it's the same in US - but a manifold where every exhaust-port has equal pipe before pipe's are assempled)

Hope my english follows my eager to answer!

You did fine Soren ... one heck of a lot better that I would do in Danish ;-) .... At one of the Canadian Volvo Club shows I attended, I saw a 142 with dual pipes ... what the owner had done was split the dual down pipes and continued them at the same size all the way to the rear of the car .... NO MUFFLERS .... MAN was that baby LOUD !!!

I agree with the others ... two cylinders into a 2" pipe just will not flow. The system I had built consists of a 4:2:1 stock exhaust cast iron manifold connected to the usual dual downpipe ... then I had a 2" pipe back to a MAGNAFLOW 14" muffler ..over the axle and into a 10" bubble style resonator. Sounds great flows excellently and I don't have to worry about the damn headers always coming apart either at the block or at the collector as the HOOKER set I had on my '72 Cortina GT used to do ... that was truly annoying and eventually I had to go back to the stock manifold .

At first I had just the Magnaflow at the very back .... that was loud enough to be very annoying .... which is why I added the resonator and moved the muffler ahead of the axle .... I have heard that if I had just moved the muffler and not added the resonator I would have had a noticable reduction of sound too ... has something to do with wavelength and where along it the muffler is located. One thing I have noticed since I did the final muffler work is that all the cars in the Club that I AutoCross with sound almost the same .. 2 liter 4 cylinders that is ... and I think MOST of them are running a MagnaFlow/Flowmaster and their Catalytic converter ... having a pre CAT car has it's advantages :-) .

    At 20 paces?

I don't recall any discussion abut a dual exhaust for a 122, and frankly can't see the point of it. You'll get the best flow with all 4 cylinders going into one pipe (suitably joining the individual cylinders with a 4:2:1 header of course). With only two cylinders providing impetus long the pipe all the way to the rear I think the gas velocity would suffer. At best it wouldn't be any better, and it could possibly flow worse.
