Blower fan 200 1984

The blower fan in my 1984 245 is finally dying. Of course, just as the weather is turning cold and I least want to sit out working on the car. Anyway, I have a new fan kit on order.

I know someboday has posted an excellent shortcut for replacing the fan. Anyone have a quick link to one or more of those shortcuts? Don Foster, where are you???

Thanks!

One recomendation...Do not use the cut and chop method as described by a few installers.. The one that tells you to cut a hole in the left blower housing and pull it out. this is the sloppiest and most disgusting thing I have ever seen.. Do it the right way,, Also pull the dsah cover off as it makes it a lot easier and a lot more room to work in.. It only takes about 15 more minutes to pull it. Search on my posts in the past and on the posts by Art Benstein's posts. Trust me there are a lot of posts on this board about the subject but please do it the right way if you like you car..It is time consuming but well worth the time spent, also if you are like a lot of us you will start fixing and remodeling a lot of things while you are in there, such as removing all the leaves and needles from around the back of the blower housing and fresh air intake area.

"Cut and Chop" was precisely the shortcut I'd been hoping to read more about; I'd heard some people did the fan in a half hour or so that way. Thanks for weighing in on that.

Looking forward to earning my "Blower Fan Merit Badge" the hard way, and learning more about what's under the dashboard. The fan kit is on order.
