hard steering when car is cold. 200 1991

I have not posted anything because my 240 runs so good. New problem, what causes the steering to turn so hard mostly when it is cold. I flushed the powersteering resorvoir. When the car warms up it is much better. Stew

The belt driving the power steering might be slipping when it's cold.

Check the tension of your belts.

Not sure if this is your problem, but it wouldn't hurt to lube your steering column u-joints. They can cause stiff steering especially when cold. Should be done periodically anyway, as they can seize or wear out. Ask me how I know this...

How much did you flush? I drained and filled the reservoir about 7-8 times, running the car around the block to cycle the steering after each cycle. The steering is as good as new. This is on a 1991 240 DL with 120 k miles. I can'nt say how your's will respond, but it worked for me.
