Beru Silverstone plugs 200

Anyone ever try Beru Silverstone plugs in their NA 240? Worthwhile?

Considering trying these with Magnecor wires at my next tune-up.

Hello,

3 simple steps to a healthy ignition system on your 240.

1) OE Volvo or Bosch Copper plugs.

2)OE Volvo or Bougicord wires.

3)Orange Bosch cap and ignition rotor.

No Magnecor, Neihoff, Champion, NGK or other crap like that. A healthy system with parts that Volvo intended to be used are the key here. So called "performance" wires make insignificant performance differences. Platinum plugs make your 240 run like crap and they cut fuel economy.

I disagree.

You know, I am long time believer in using OEM parts and particularly Bosch. I did this for years as a former owner of both BMW's and VW's.

"1) OE Volvo or Bosch Copper plugs."

Last set of Bosch was a diaster. The ceramic on two broke and caused me a major headache diagnosing them. Cost me money in repairs too. Understand that Bosch is now being manufactured in India and the quality has gone down. Never again!! NGK or Beru this time.

"2)OE Volvo or Bougicord wires."

Poor quality again! Car came with Bosch, never had a a problem. Wish I hadn't changed them out...Got a set of Bougicord to replace them. Mismatched pieces of crap! Sent them back, installed new set within 2 months a wire came out of the connector to the dist. cap.

"3)Orange Bosch cap and ignition rotor"

I totally agree here.

Look, I have a slushbox in my car and if better plugs and wires can make my car run a little better and maybe faster then it is worth it to me. After doing some research, Beru's seem to last 60K or more in Volvos and they run very smooth and some claim they add a little more power. They are silver, better than platinum or iridium plugs. Magnecor are known to be the best quality wires. Since Magnecor wires are now available for the same cost as Bougicord, I don't feel like I'm taking much of a risk here (I can always keep the old stuff). Especially after my last tune-up diaster with OEM plugs and wires....

I haven't found any diference in different spark plugs for my 84 240 Wagon. I just use Volvo plugs. One time I was in a Foreign Parts Store and was told the spark plug wires needed to be changed on a regular basis. My brick still has the factory wires & starts immediately when I turn the key.

I went to their website. They look ok, meaning standard electrode configuration, but* (see *, below). It’s just that everyone needs a gimmick. Platinum, Iridium, split or multi ground electrodes.

Web site: “Guaranteeing a virtually unchanged electrode gap for the life of the spark plug.” How long is it’s life?

*Besides, these are non resistor plugs. You use resistor plugs and non resistor wires.

I’d go with Standard Bosch, NGK, or Volvo plugs.

I thought so too. However, these silver plugs sound pretty good from my research. A long time poster had 60k+ on his the last I heard.

See my response above for my bad experience with Bosch plugs. Volvo plugs are now Champion - no way! NGK maybe...

Magnecor wires are resistor wires.
