trunk 900 1993

Ok. I have a 1993 940 that the trunk suddenly doesn't open. It feels like the linkage has seperated as there is no resistance when you pull on the handle. How do I get the trunk open so I can disassemble and repair.

thanks much

The ski hatch approach is no good, since the locking arm is covered by plastic trim as noted by Tony. I would remove the rear seat per FAQ instructions, climb in and remove the trim, and fix the rods directly. That keeps you from having to drill a hole in the rear of the car.

Is the trunk being locked by central locking system alome or has the trunk been separately locked by key as well?

central locking system but it doesn't seem to matter which as the key was also tried. It appears that the mechanical link as either broken or come detached.

Had this problem on my 940 2 years ago, the control arm came away from the boot lock lever and tried everything before having a brainwave ( it hurt at the time ) I managed to get a friend to allow me to dismantle the trim in the trunk to see what was inside. How I solved the problem was to measure the position of the arm in relation to the rear panel, I then drilled a hole behind the rear number plate and was able to recover the loose end of the control arm with a wire coat hanger and then tugging it open with a pair of long nosed grips. The hole was 25mm and was treated and sealed with a rubber grommet and is unseen under the number plate. If you require the correct position to drill your hole I will have to get the measurements from my vehicle and pass them on to you. Let me Know.
