Wagon back seat removal

I'm reupholstering the seats on my 1989 Volvo wagon and cannot figure out how to remove the back seat (the part your back rests against) Help! Thanks!!

Spring loaded pin, fat, deep in the hinge at each side. The pin fits two fingers to lock the seat in place. You have to pry the pin in (or out?) of the seat to free it. It is a pain in the rear.
