speedo seems off 200 1993

Hi, My speedo seems to be reading too fast (according to all those "your speed is..." things on the side of the road). Its only a few mph high around 50, and by 65 reads about 5 mph too high. Plus, I know theres no way I was going 90 uphill (it was a little hill, but still). Any ideas as to what might cause this or how I should fix it? I'm running the right size tires, by the way. Thanks!

I wouldn't go by those roadside " your speed is.." I go through quite a few in a weeks time, and each one indicates that my speedo is : right on....5MPH slow...8 MPH fast.....had one that indicated I was doing 65...and my speedo showed 35.

Rough check is to go by mile markers on Interstates...check your mileage and check you time. I generally will do the check for a ten mile stretch. Or if your in good with the local law enforcers...have them check you with their radar (still not to be trusted). Best bet is to use a GPS.....they will give very accurate speed info up to 999 MPH.

I'd double check those tire sizes.

Is this a 245 (wagon) or a 244 (sedan)? They took different tires, and it is a common mistake to put sedan tires on a wagon.

I don't think you can get the 100% proper sized tire for a wagon any longer.

Good luck!
