Can someone tell me what a 'cold start injector' is? . . . 700

and where it can be located in a 740T?

unless the 740turbos are dramatically different than my 740 non-turbo, then I don't think you have a cold start injector. I think only older 240's had them with the constant-injection system. I may be completely wrong though and I know just about nothing about non-bosch systems... :)

I would peg a bad cold-start on a 740 more toward the temp sensor.... check their first. Lots of info in the FAQ about it.

If you look at the intake manifold there's a long tube that has the fuel injectors on it for each cylinder. Above this on the intake manifold there's the cold start injector. The cold start injector will feed extra gas to all of the cylinders only when the engine is cold. It does the same job as a choke plate does on old carburated engines. If the engine runs rich after it warms up it could be this injector or most likely a bad temp. sensor. What kind of problems are you having?

Good Luck,

Not all volvos have this. My 89 740 turbo does not.

Crappy idling when cold; but engine runs gloriously smooth after warmed up. Didn't notice it until the morning temperature around these parts hit 45-50 in the mornings.

Like the name says, it's for "cold starting", and won't affect cold running (unless it leaks, which affects mixture all the time). It gets activated to give some extra fuel, but ONLY when the starter is cranking.
