Turbo inlet hose 700 1986

Hello Bricksters,

Does anyone know where I can get a turbo inlet hose for my 1986 760T in southern California? I've checked several recyclers in the San Diego area, but it doesn't seem to be a part that they routinely keep. Dealer is an ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT ($$$)...

My email is jimdub@cox.net

Many advance thanks.

Hi

If you are talking about the airbox to turbo hose. This is what I did

This is a pipe I have made to replace the rubber pipe from the air box to the turbo It's made from 3 inch 90deg SS bend(air box end) blended in to 2.5 inch 90deg SS bend(turbo end). It has silicon connecters on each end

If I did it again I would use a 2.5 to 3 inch silicon connector on the turbo end and use two 3inch SS bends instead of 2.5 to 3inch SS bends

George

BOHICA...just get the best price you can..it's a unique part. 700 1986

I'm not saying it can't be pieced together with stock bits and an aluminum T for the CBV, but no one on the board seems to have had any success with it.

I've had to replace one of them twice on the 87 760T we just sold (the nice lass from PA got an almost new one...maybe 50K and several years on it) and the only solution is to just get it from a dealer. Keep looking on the internet (get the part number from some dealer) and just buy it.

Jim;

This appears to be a common hose failure ... high heat and oil soaking from PCV hose.

Lots of folks seem to use FCP Groton ... I think the hose for my 1989 is ~$70. I have heard comments that these hoses don't fit as well but also others were seem quite happy with them.

I used duct tape for a few months but the heat just decimates it. A much better short term fix (IMHO) is to use high-temp silicone. Silicone adheres to rubber just GREAT. Ensure you clean area well before using.

Norm,

Thanks for the reply. I actually had also tried duct tape as a temporary fix...it worked well until the heat deteriorated it.

I'm going to try the high temp silicone you suggested until I can find a replacement hose.

Thanks again,
