Is this doable,shock repair? 200

I have the bilsteins HD on my 90 240. Yes the rears make a knocking sound.I have a set used rear Volvo shocks that were not noisy. Can the bushing and sleeve be pressed out and pressed into the bilsteins?Just a thought.Or what can I use to take up the slack in the shock mounting holes?Sending them back to Bilstein seems like more trouble. TIA
Nelson

The knocking sound could be loose shocks. Ie. try tightening up the upper and lower nuts so that the shocks are gripped/sandwiched better.

Send them back...Bilstein will replace!!! 200

My rear HD's were knocking too (only one actually) and ended up replacing everything back there. Swapped sides...clunks swapped too. Sent both rears back to Bilstein...replaced both with brand new ones. Very easy and no hassles.

Well are you sure its the shocks? It could be track rod bushings, panard bushinsg, etc...also they (bilstein) will most likely send you a new pair of $400 shocks vs $150 OEM Volvo/Boge shocks.

All the rear bushings are new.Sometimes it doesn't pay to replace eveything at once. It makes tracking down problems more difficult.Next time I wll maybe do 2 sets of bushings and wait, then another set.But I am sure it is the shocks!Funny thing, this is the second set of Bilsteins that make noise. I have another set in the box that I removed many months ago and forgot about. So back to the company they both go! Thanks,

The TC's just plain suck...thew QC/QA must be run by Stevie Wonder and Jose Feliciano to ship unit with too large bolt sleeves and bad valves.

The yellows I have, oldies, have been keeping on for years. I guess the new "global" economy means that quality/longevity take a back seat to cost of production.

But to have 2 pair of the high end product go south? I wonder what the return % is these days?

I was surprised at the lower end product's resemblence to Boge/Scahs OEM product. Almost like bilstein subbed the work out to them and then slapped their name n the end product.

        Too bad.
